How to compare PC game keys before you buy

A low headline price is useful only when the code matches your platform, edition and country. Compare the exact digital product and the terms attached to the offer before checkout.

1. Match the platform and product type

Check whether the offer is a Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect or other platform key. A code for one platform does not automatically work on another. Also distinguish a game key from an account containing a game, a wallet top-up, a subscription or in-game currency.

Steam says a retail or digital key intended for Steam registration should identify that platform, and its client has a separate product-activation flow. Read the listing and the platform's activation instructions before you buy. Steam Support: Retail CD Keys.

2. Compare the same edition

Confirm the game title, edition, included downloadable content (DLC), bundle contents and any early-access or subscription condition. A standard edition and a deluxe bundle are different products even when their titles and cover art look similar.

3. Check activation country and restrictions

Read the product's activation-region label and any exception notice. “Global” or a broad region label may still have country-specific restrictions. Set the country where your platform account is registered, then use the seller's restriction checker if one is available.

Activation region is not the same as the store's website region or the currency shown in search results. Do not assume a code will work because it can be purchased from your location. Eneba's help center also advises buyers to check regional tags and the product's important notice. Eneba: Check where a key can be activated.

Do not try to bypass a region restriction with a VPN or location disguise. Check the platform's terms and buy a code valid for your account's country.

4. Compare the seller and purchase terms

On a marketplace, inspect the named vendor and the offer's delivery, payment and return terms. Different vendors can have different terms on the same marketplace. Confirm whether the code is delivered immediately or after a verification step, and what support process applies if activation fails.

5. Compare the checkout price

Compare offers in the same currency and include required fees shown at checkout. Check whether a discount requires a code, a particular payment method or another condition. A displayed price may change before payment, so confirm the final amount with the seller.

This is a buyer checklist, not a live inventory feed or a claim that Lumu currently compares Eneba offers. Store coverage depends on available sources. Open the seller's product page to confirm the current code, region, edition, seller and final terms before purchase.
